Q: Tell us about Sugar of the Nile. What sets you apart from other sugaring companies?

Amber: What sets Sugar of the Nile apart from other sugaring companies is the consistent quality of our products and our exceptional customer service. With over 20 years of experience, we have perfected our sugar paste recipes, resulting in consistent and reliable products. We manufacture our paste in a controlled environment, ensuring consistency from batch to batch. Additionally, our packaging is designed to fit perfectly into sugar warmers, allowing for even heat distribution without overheating or burning the paste. This not only maintains the paste’s quality but also extends its usage. Moreover, we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service, with personalized communication and prompt order processing. We strive to create lasting relationships with our clients and ensure their satisfaction with our products and services.

Q: How did you personally get into the sugaring field and what made you passionate about it?

Amber: When I first started my career in the esthetics industry, I focused primarily on facials. However, I had a strong desire to expand my skill set and explore new techniques. That’s when I learned about sugaring through a friend of a friend. I was initially hesitant about hair removal, but the concept of sugaring intrigued me. I decided to undergo training and certification in Professional Body Sugaring with Sugar of the Nile. It was a challenging and unique experience that required dedicated practice to master. As I invested more time into sugaring, it became the primary focus of my work. I developed a deep passion for sugaring and its transformative effects. Eventually, I became an educator and distributor for Sugar of the Nile, sharing my knowledge and introducing sugaring to estheticians in my area. Now, as the US National Educator for Sugar of the Nile, I am thrilled to expand the reach of sugaring and advocate for its benefits.

Q: Could you tell us about your favorite pre or post-care product from Sugar of the Nile?

Amber: My favorite post-care product from Sugar of the Nile is the Body Mist. It contains soothing ingredients like Aloe, Chamomile, Green Tea Extract, and Myrrh. After every sugaring service, I use the Body Mist on my clients. It provides a calming and refreshing sensation, reducing redness and irritation associated with hair removal. My clients love how it leaves their skin feeling nourished and rejuvenated. The Body Mist is incredibly versatile and can be sprayed directly on the treated area or applied using a compress. It’s a must-have in my sugaring routine.

Q: Tell us about yourself and your role with the company

Amber: I am a Master Esthetician based in Washington State, with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry. For over 19 years, I have been practicing and refining my skills in sugaring. I am the founder of Legend Aesthetic, which serves as the largest US distributor for Sugar of the Nile. In addition to distributing their products, I also devote a significant amount of time to educating estheticians in the art of Professional Body Sugaring. Around six years ago, I was honored to be appointed as the US National Educator for Sugar of the Nile. I am passionate about expanding the presence of Sugar of the Nile in the US and promoting the incredible benefits of sugaring.

Q: Do you have a favorite sugaring war story or mishap/funny experience from your classes?

Amber: Sugaring paste can be sensitive to temperature, becoming either too soft or too firm depending on the practitioner, client, and room conditions. One memorable incident occurred during a class in a warm room during the summer. I was assisting a student with the flicking technique, emphasizing the importance of committing to the flick. Unfortunately, she committed a bit too enthusiastically and flicked the paste right off her hand, landing it on a window and the blinds covering it. It created quite a messy situation! We had to pause the class and clean up the paste using warm towels. Although she was embarrassed, this type of mishap is relatable to many sugarists who have experienced similar flicking incidents.

Q: As the US National Educator, what types of training do you provide estheticians on sugaring techniques?

Amber: At Sugar of the Nile, we offer a variety of training options to cater to different estheticians’ needs. Our foundational training is the 2-day Sugar Certification class, which is a prerequisite for purchasing our products. In this class, estheticians learn the basics of sugaring theory and techniques, including full leg, bikini line, underarm, and facial sugaring. To pass the certification, students must successfully complete a written and practical test.

In addition to the certification class, we offer advanced training courses that focus on specific areas of expertise. These include Brazilian sugaring techniques, speed sugaring, and ensuring client comfort during the treatment. We understand that continuous learning is essential, so we also provide training to experienced sugarists who aspire to become educators themselves. This training covers the theory of sugaring, breaking down the technique into teachable parts, and providing guidance on assisting students who may be facing challenges.

Q: What are you most excited about in regard to your partnership with TSG?

Amber: I am genuinely thrilled about the partnership with The Skin Games (TSG). This collaboration presents an incredible opportunity to connect with estheticians who share the same passion for the industry and sugaring. I am eager to meet and interact with like-minded professionals, exchange knowledge, and learn new skills. This partnership allows me to step outside my comfort zone and explore new horizons within the esthetics field. I am grateful for the platform TSG provides to elevate the awareness of sugaring and showcase its benefits to a wider audience.
